Car history: |
1972 Corvette set up to Auto cross per SCCA B Street Prepared rules. The mileage is not correct because the car came with a 3:08 final drive but has had a 3:73, 4:11 and now a 4:56. The speedometer gear was not changed so the actual mileage is less than what the odometer says. The speedo cable gets goes to the transmission and an internal gear needs to be changed and matched to the rear gear. My guess is the actual mileage is about 120K Doesn't matter as everything mechanical has been replaced after about 110K miles. The car has had a complete frame on rebuild. Starting at the front, new aluminum radiator with correct overflow tank and hoses last year, electric fans installed a few years ago. The motor is the original number matching block with a rebuilt matching set of 1970 double hump 2.02 valve heads. Flat top forged pistons rebuilt about 5,000 miles or less ago. 350 hp cam. MSD 6AL ignition including tack drive distributor and coil. The original Quadrajet has been professionally setup for this engine, always starts runs great.. Dyno results at rear wheels; 292 HP and 360 ft lbs of torque. Quarter mile times, 13.29 sec. @ 106 mph. Nickel coated headers with custom 2 1/2 inch dual exhaust with cross pipe. Lightweight starter and the Air conditioning removed with A/C delete cover on firewall. All driveline bearings and U-joints in excellent condition, differential and transmission rebuilt 3 months ago with new Chance 2500 stall converter. Front suspension has been completely rebuilt; poly bushings, ball joints with 800lb competition springs and custom built Single adjustable Koni shocks. 2 front sway bars. The rear suspension has also been rebuilt, all new bushings, 360 lb TRW spring with Penski double adjustable shocks. I also have new set, in box, of offset trailing arms. The car currently has 17 X 9 1/2 Torque Thrust wheels with 295/35/17 Hoosier A6's. Car also comes with 4 Complete Custom Wheel classic 16 X 9 1/2 in. wheels. The interior had the carpet replaced several years ago but still good, door panels are cracked in the arm rests. The original seats were recovered with leather, come with car but have been replaced with Recaro adjustable lightweight seats. The driver side has a Scroth four point harness. The radio, not original, does not work. The bumpers were rechromed and look great. The paint has lots of small chips from the sticky tires throwing rocks and there is an area on the drivers side rear fender where the paint peeled off when a decal was removed. It looks great from 10 ft away. This car has won over 15 years worth of regional championships and 4 Midwest championships. It has been to National championships the last 10 years and could have trophied some of the years with a better driver. It is well sorted, reliable, one of the best handling C-3's in the country. I have over $34,000 in receipts and tried to save all the parts that were removed. This car often sets the Fastest time of day at local events. Buy and amaze the local AutoX club how fast an old Corvette can be. The car is licensed and can easily be made streatable by replacing the 800lb springs, puting on street tires and changing to a street alignment. $15,000. 34,053 miles from the odometer. Color codes from the owner. Built date is G03. Motor suffix code is V0126CKX. May 27, 2010. |
